So i'm working on the rules, etc for MODheim (my Mordheim conversion) and i've been trying to work out the best way of creating a large bank of scenarios, so far i'm come up with a card based system, as pictured below, I would really like some feedback on this if anyone has any thoughts, or ideas to add.
I'm also trying to work out a simpler way to show what models can work in a warband. To try and explain this a little better, as I come up with more and more warband ideas, I realise that some of the models would / could work for more than one warband.
Although models could have a “fluff” entry in the book with maybe half a page explaining their motivations and loyalties, to try and display this better in a method that will allow users to select their models more easily I’ve come up with the “warband grid” as pictured below. Again I would really love some feedback on this and if you think it is a clear method, or if you have any other suggestions on how to do it.
So, what do you think? I could really use some feedback, positive or otherwise as to the layouts and ideas above.
Much appreciated.
Maxxev.
Hey there Maxxev! I just popped in to say "Nice job on the gnomes!" but since apparently you've gotten plenty of compliments on them, I thought I would offer some compliments on your MODheim work instead!
ReplyDeleteThe leadership selection charts look pretty great to me. You've got some interesting options in there, some of which I've never heard of before. What's an "Ssler"? The chart itself looks very nice. Easy to read, as well. Do you have a graphic design background?
I spotted a couple spelling errors: "liche" and "servant" come to mind.
I also REALLY like the idea of shuffling a couple decks to come up with an initial scenario/setup/etc. The weather deck is a brilliant idea, one I never thought of. Reminds me of Warhammer quest with all the shuffling.
I'm curious as to what made you decide to start your own Mordheim mod. Are you familiar with Coreheim/HeroHeim at all?
Looking forward to more, and best wishes!
Hi there, thank you for the comment, and for the spell checking, lol.
DeleteI am aware of Coreheim and certainly some of the modifications in that appealed to me, but some of the other changes I felt removed flavour from the game.
I am not aware of an active Heroheim project, I heard the name once but I could only find a defunct wiki page with only one page on it when I went looking for it on the net...if you know of an active page, please send me a link.
I also found "Warheim" while I was looking, but seeing as it's all in Polish and i'm not (polish), unfortunately microsoft translate is not up to the job...
Cheers on the idea for the decks, I was just thinking really about how to have a game element you can add to without having to re-write the rules every time you come up with a new idea (to change from D12, to D18 or whatever to fit it in). Decks seem like the best way to do that.
No I don't have a graphic design background, though that sounds like fun, I never had any idea what I wanted to do when "I grew up" and now I am grown up i'm kind of stuck in an admin role... oh well lol.
Oh and the Ssler ... basically anything begining with 2x "s" was me trying to come up with names for "snakemen"... which is what they are... lol.
DeleteLike MY fish men will be called "Teilk" and "Carg" rather than fishmen....
The actual snakemen warband will be a mix of Snakemen and Gorgons, but I thought it would add some flavour to the necromancers if some snakemen hang around with them....
