Ogre / Formian and a giant skeleton

 Great undead style ogre figure from the Massive darkness kickstarter. Painted with a combination of contrast (browns, creams and black) and traditional painting and shades (e.g. skin was pale pink then thinned down blue shade).

This figure is from D&D Chainmail, I believe it was a troll, but would pass as an ogre happily; painted with contrast paints and then highlighted, metals were painted more traditionally and shaded.

Mordheim: Necromancer

And something else right before the summer holidays end....

This time a necromancer, this guy is a HATE miniature from the skirmish game kick-started by CMON some time back. Mostly painted by traditional methods but the black was contrast with some highlighting.

Shame that the skull in his hand is horribly miss-cast but never-mind, obviously some kind of mutant's old skull

Probably the last thing I will paint all year, but who knows perhaps the kids will be calm enough to give me time to sit at the desk for a while yet.

Mordheim: Witch or... I PAINTED SOMETHING!!!

Summer holidays so I've had a few days off here and there and then a couple of weeks too, apparently that recharged the batteries enough to make me want to paint something.

Little bit of contrast paint (Brown and Blacks) then traditional painting methods with normal paint and some quick-shade as usual.

Miniature is  "Blood Rage - Mystics of Midgard" miniature.

Shadespire: The Sepulchral Guard

Yes I am still alive though my kids have basically killed all my hobby time, and or my Muse...

But I did pick up the wonderful new undead warband for Shadespire a few months ago and I actually managed to paint it over the course of a month or so... well it's mostly painted anyway, more than I have painted in the last 2 years or so...

You may notice I had to re-base them onto 30mm round lipped bases... can't help it I just like them so much better than the standard bases... it wasn't really all that hard if anyone is wondering, I just cut off the edge of the base, smoothed down the edges and glued the tops onto the 30mm bases.

Anyway that's it really.... not a lot after over 2 years I appreciate.... if anyone is still following this blog, thank you :).

Crud, just noticed I didn't paint the leader's spear shaft.... :(.

Gorgon cult; Salamanders PiP

Paint in progress on 3/4 of the salamanders I converted up a while ago, the other one is slightly further behind as I try to work out how to paint his sea serpent cloak.

I tried a patina effect on the copper of their shields, I think the effect worked quite well but i'm not sure that I like the effect... either that or the really dark green shields... mght repaint jet black or something else, not decided yet.

Gorgon cult; 2nd Naga completed

Finished the second WoW pre-painted plastic re-pose / re-paint.
Nothing really more to say about this than what was said about the first one :).
I'm sure I could spend more time on it, but it was a pre-painted plastic figure and therefore the detail is pretty soft anyway and I hate painting so would rather get back to something else.... or not as my muse takes me.

Gorgon cult - Upgraded WoW Naga

All done apart from some highlights on his Trident (and the base of course), lighting was a bit rubbish and the model is presently shiner that I would like, even after 2 coats of matt varnish... but i'm pretty happy with him, he has eyeballs and a painted tongue but you can't see that clearly in the photos particularly with the shiny issue...

Hordes: Blindwater Bog Trog Trawlers

So I like the Bog Trog minis... and actually played a game of Hordes for the first time in about 6 years so that gave me a little inspiration to paint something. I actually painted my Shambler unit too but not enough light for me to take photos of them at the moment, plus I haven't even undercoated the bases like I managed to do on the trawlers yet.
First guy is not converted but the second guy is. 

This guy I cut off the handle from his right hand and bent the arm carefully, then I replaced the handle on the gun with brass rod and roughly sculpted a strap onto it.
I took the knife off of a Metal GW Kroot shaper for the right hand.

Light was rubbish here in South UK when I took these shots but there we go, Summer is over lol.
2 more Amazons to add to the finished crew.

Now I just have 6 Specialists to paint lol...... O.O

Phew well that was a challenge, glad it's over! (yes ok fine one day I need to paint her sheathed sword and loose arrows for her belt :()

Wonderful figure, but sooo much detail, this meant I actually had to paint her properly and not my usual, paint, ink, highlight, this means more time and more patience, both things I have little of at the moment lol.

Freebooters Fate: Amazons, Pehua (Paint in progress)

Long time no update, i'm trying to get hold of a bunch of parts for some conversions (another set of twisty bloodletter horns for another Ember Demon and some space marine gloved hands for some armoured Gnomes), proving fairly had without just buying sets brand new at the moment :(.

So anyway, decided to paint my Pehua miniature as it's been sitting undercoated for yonks and there is a ToG competition at my local club for Freebooters, though i'm already month behind, I figure it might at least give me a little motivation.

This miniature has proven to be a real pain in the arse and confirmed for me that the Temple guard were flukes and I can't really paint that well lol, particularly her robes.

Some bits of her have already been painted three times before I hit the right colour combination, but those damned robes, I cannot get them to look right :(. 

I've had enough of robes, so it's eyeballs, bow, base and done for me now I don't want to spend any more time on this figure, i'll come back to her for the scabbard / arrows separate part. She's one of my favorite figures from the range but, baring in mind I hate painting anyway, I hate those robes lol.
