As these are both finished paint jobs from previously seen work i've put them into this one post.
Basically
they've just had a bit more highlighting and depth added to the
miniatures, i've now got to go and put a bit more effort into the rest
of the dwarves as this guy looks quite a bit better lol
The Skaven seer again has just had highlighting done, mostly on the robes, scroll and skull. I've found it very difficult to highlight the head as there is very little detail on the plastic, but i'm pretty happy with the final outcome.

Warhammer Fantasy: Dwarf Hammerers painted
Sorry for the long delay between posts, i've mostly been scouring eBay for warhammer fortresses to get the walls for the vampire hunter campaign, I was originally planning on building my own walls but 2 weekends after starting I had only finished one and I simply don't have that much spare time!
Anyway, back on topic, here are 8 more Warhammer fantasy dwarf hammerer conversions, mostly painted (red still needs highlights, blue still needs a bit of shading) the bases obviously are not finished, as per most of my projects I like to finish ALL the models before basing.
If your curious as to how these guys were made, I believe there are WIP shots further back in the blog, I even did a tutorial of sorts for the female ones, though i'm not sure that made it onto the blog (i'll have to re-write that).
I have 29 of these lads / lasses in total to get though, so once I have done with the red / blue i'll be basically 1/3rd of the way through.... this is why I don't play mass battle games anymore....
Gold gold gold gold, gold gold gold gol, gold gold gold gold...... yes ok I like gold on my dwarves....
Hip flask = celtic silver bead for anyone curious, 2 guts on the left have beards from "avatars of war "beserkers
Front / Middle Rank
My ape faced lass conversion second from the right, the shoulder armour does look a little like an armband.... nevermind.
Yes the guy second from the left is a short ball with legs.....

Warhammer Fantasy: Dwarf Hammerer painted
Finally managed to paint one of the plastic hammerers I converted in 2011 lol. Not sure why, I just saw some nice warhammer dwarves online and I thought I should really finish this unit at least, after all I put months of conversion work into them!!
Some of the chainmail looks decidedly dodgy. That is because of the plastics (the mail on dwarves never seems to come out of the mold as well as the mail on some other minis (e.g. Dark elves) and the 6th edition plastics were really quite bad where they attempted to have the chainmail go all the way around, due to the limitations of injection molding this was never going to work (GW were still learning at that point).
Right well that's one down, only 29 more to go...lol

MODheim: Dwarf
Finished off the last dwarf slayer who's been sitting on my desk for yonks, that makes a full 12 dwarves for the warband all painted up :).
Like the last one this guy is based on a Mantic games beserker with hands / weapons, the hammer is from the actual Mordheim dwarf Warband :).

Warhammer Fantasy: Dwarf Hammerers (Archive Conversions)
Some of these photos are WIP but I don't have any better ones and my dwarves are just one of the many projects in an un-finished state.

I call her Olga :).

The guy on the left shows you how the torso is glued on.... sort of.
![]() |
I was a bit more creative with the last few guys helmets at the back, I should have been doing this from the begining as it looks a lot better than just plan helmet backs IMO.
![]() |
Another random bunch of fellas, I think the guy on the far right didn;t get enough of his head removed, he looks more ape like than the others... OOK.
![]() |
Just another two guys.
The female dwarf on this thread is the leader for the unit (or a thane if i'm not using hammerers).

WARMACHINE: Searforge Hammerfall UA
I thought i'd put up the WIP shots for the custom Searforge Hammerfall Highshield UA I made a couple of years ago as the previous pics are all fully painted.
These conversions are made primarily from Privateer Press Hammerfall figures (as you might expect) but I also mixed in a few GW parts (in particular, heads) to get more individuality from PPs figures.

The finished UA
I started with the officer, taking the Hammerfall body with a wide gait turning left.
I cut off the left leg cleaned up the groin area and pinned the trimmed lower leg to the stub with a gap in-between ( I used a bit of hard GS underneith the foot for support).
I then put some strips of GS on either side of his cloak and left them to dry.
Once dry I went over those strips with more GS and put in some creases and the button holes on the right hand side.
After that I took one of the straighter hammerfall left arms and cut it up, re-assembling it into a straight pose (without the hand).
Then I took and empire knight head and trimmed off the top, applying a bretonnian helmet in the laurels place.
The pointing hand is from the OOP Dwarf warriors boxed set. After I started painted I also added a loin cloth out of a bit of plastikard with GS ontop of it.

Paint in progress shot of the conversion
The standard bearer was converted from one of my spare unit leaders (I've had up to 60 hammerfall at various points... kind of obsessed...).
His gun was hacked off and the arm cleaned up
The hand / banner pole was from the current GW dwarf warriors (or thunderers).
The head is from an OOP Empire state troops box.
The banner was made by putting shapes of plastikard on the banner pole and then using pro-create I sculpted all the little plaques (I pushmolded the top one from the stock UA).
There is also a little high elf purity seal type bit at the bottom.
He also has a bretonnian helmet on his back.
A couple of WIP shots of the standard bearer

MODheim: Dwarves (PiP)
An update on the dwarves, I had to try and finish something in order to keep my motivation going, and the dwarves were the ones at the top of my list. I still have to convert one more troll slayer, but he is now the last model outstanding.
As far as the painting goes, I have to touch up the flesh some as the new dwarves look a little sun burnt at the moment.

MODheim: Dwarf update, Trollslayer (WIP)
Work in progress shot of a troll slayer to go with my female dwarves, he doesn't quite match up in dimensions but he's a pretty good match on height, beter than all the other alternatives at least.
I still need to repair one of his feet.
Parts are:
Mantic Dwarf Beserker
Avatars of War Beserker Hair
GW Dwarf artillery arms & Warrior axe head
Greenstuff & 30mm base.

MODheim: Dwarves PiP
Update on the current status of the dwarves, obviously bases still need doing, the faces didn't come out as well as i'd hoped (I had to repair a couple of them after cutting into them when removing the original helmets). Faces could definitely do with more paint work but ... well I can't paint faces... :(.
Also I took these photos in bright sunlight with a new camera.... probably not the best idea, I need to play with the camera settings as these photos originally all came out blue.... (I mean REALLY dark blue all over, not just the blue bits).

I still need to figure out a shield design

This face had the most corrective sculpting... you can tell :(.

WHFB: Dwarves
Another catch-up thread showcasing the latest conversions for my Warhammer Fantasy Dwarves
The below is one of the conversions I'm most proud of, all the plastics are from the OOP Dwarf warrior kit, bar some of the accesories and the "shoulder armour" (dwarf mask).
The face (lower half) was sculpted and I was really happy with the outcome (I have however been unable to replicate it on any other figures :(.

Gatekeeper
The kit below shows the metal BSB and thane kit, originally the model on the left was the thane and the one on the right was the standard, however the BSB was so badly misscast (head) that I decided to chop it off and resculpt bits of him. I liked the resulting helmet conversion so much that I decided to use him as a Thane instead of a BSB, but I still needed a BSB figure....
Standard bearer into Thane, Thane into Standard bearer....
Thane WIP - he will have a hand eventually
The below figures are again converted from OOP Dwarf warriors, using the current plastics helmets and arms / cross bows. Greenstuff was then used to bring the OOP figures waistlines into line with the current dwarf plastics as well as to add cloaks (they will be rangers).

MODheim: Dwarves
Catch up thread to show where the Dwarf warband for MODheim is currently.
So far all miniatures for the dwarf warband are from Reaper miniatures, converted using helmets from the OOP Dwarf warrior kit (6th Edition) and weapon arms and accesories from the present dwarf warrior and Thunderer kits. Sheilds are from the Bretonnian men at arms.
These guys are now all undercoated, I'm still trying to work out the colours to paint them with.....

DeathSquads: Squat survivors
The below figures were going to be the 2nd warband converted for use in DeathSquads, there are no actual rules for Squats, I was intending to use them as Chaos renegades, however I still only have 2 of them finished lol.
Converted from Privateer Press Hammerfall High Shield figures, with GW plastic heads (Empire militia and Catachan Jungle fighter), a weapon from Heresy Miniatures and the bolter type thing from Inquisitor (54mm). Plus a fair ammount of greenstuff (and even a little greystuff (pro-create putty) on the first guys shoulders)
