Mordheim Vampire Hunters: Forces of Undead (plus New Ghouls Part 3)

After a rather productive 5 days off, the Ghasts are all complete :) (I need to get some gloss varnish for blood though).

Not a bunch of folk i'd want to meet on a dark night....

I think these figures make great vaguely bat like ghouls, but they'd also work quite nicely as smaller werewolf type figures :).

 It's a speee.... a Spi.....  a spii-d-d-d-der!!!

Toy spiders to be precise.... they were cheap, and had a really slap dash bit of paint work, but I think they came out looking pretty good, they won't win any competitions, but they look fine for my purposes.

BTW they are on 40mm bases so they make excellent "giant" spiders :).

Not bad for 20p each, the bases probably cost as much ......

Last on the update are the two gargoyles that will follow one of the Barons mistresses in the campaign, one grey one brown just to make it easier to distinguish between the two in games really... lol

And a shot of their backs... the chaos furies are actually quite nice figures I think.

Mordheim Vampire Hunters: New Ghouls Part 2

I'm using Wargods Ghouls as Ghasts (elite ghouls) for the campaign.

More Ghouls from Goblin town goblins, this time painted with a Brown tone to add a bit of variation to the hordes of undead, there have been some hand swaps going on with this second batch, including a couple of hands holding dismembered hands from Mantic games Zombies.

The guy not in focus on the front left was a fairly major conversion, the legs and torso were from different goblins (i'm not a fan of the majorly mutated ones) and the arm with the rock (used to be a head) was from a mantic games zombie.

I have also started to paint the Ghoul king (Varghulf) and the first Gargoyle (Harpy in the campaign, Chaos Fury miniature) the second one will be in the grey scheme to match the first bunch of ghouls.

Southlanders Update - Painting

So i've got a bit of paint on the last 2 figures for the southlanders. They still need final highlights to finish off but I was running out of light to get some decent photos so had to finish up.

They do look a little bare without any pouches or packs so i'll have to rectify that at some stage.

Southlanders Update

Finally got around to finishing the last champion for the warband :). (started here)

The two champions have now been undercoated ready for painting (though I will probably go back and add some equipment to them at some point.

The head (face) I have chosen in the end is from the empire militia set.

Mordheim Vampire Hunters: New Ghouls

Well after the Rant I posted earlier today I though I really should upload something more appropriate to my Blog ... lol

As much as I do actually like the Mantic games king of war Ghouls I was using previously , I have decided to replace them, this is really only due to the fact that they are a little too similar for my liking to the Zombies..... probably not helped by the fact I used Ghoul parts in my zombies... lol....

So I shall be replacing these with the goblin town guys so that they don't look at all similar to these.

I settled on the Lord of the rings Goblins from the Goblin Town set, this is mostly because they have some bat like features that will blend in well with my chosen models for Ghasts (Crocodile games Ghouls) and Harpies (GW Furies), plus to top it off I have the Varghul as my Ghoul king.... so bat like = themed :).

Not a lot of converting on these, I just removed some of their humped backs and replaced it with hair... the next batch have had a couple of hand swaps with Mantic zombies and amongst themselves just to make them mostly unique (I say that because I didn't do anything to 2 of the duplicates).

The paint job was very simple.
Grey undercoat (halfords car primer)
A Wash of OOP GW Shadow Grey
Dry brush 50/50 Shadow greay and OOP foundation Astroinomican Grey
Dry brush Astronomican grey
Paint all the bits of cloth & weapons
Army painter strong tone quick shade over everything
Paint the hair with P3 Bastion Grey
OOP Badab black ink over the hair
Mix some AP strong tone with P3 red ink and dab on weapons hands and mouths
Finish with some pure red ink (I hope to get some tamia red at some point to make it all look fresher).
So far bases are just a wash of P3 Umbral umber over the grey undercoated bases

I will paint the eyes at some point but i've no brushes suitable for that.... new paint brushes are on my Xmas list....

Anyway AN UPDATE!!! TA DAA.... you're all impressed right..... lol.

WARNING; Total wargamer = Total rubbish

Hi, I know this is a hobby blog and I do have an update coming soon (at last!) but right now I just have to vent.....

The story:

I've placed 3 orders in total with Total Wargamer; 2 of which were delivered within 3 months of placing the orders (not exactly fast but with 30% discounts I was ok with that, i'm not in any rush as I have a backlog all the time anyway...).

The last order I placed on the 27th of May.... due to the first 2 orders taking 3 months, I waited until August to get worried about the order. so in August I contacted them on facebook and got a reasonably speedy response, I even managed to get the smallest part of my order shipped to be in September...

I then got a lot of promises for the order being delivered for a few more weeks. So I waited... and waited, I went to question to status again in October but thier facebook page has been removed (I guess due to too much negative feedback). I then raised a ticket on the 10th of October, and 6 days later was told a refund was being made then and there.

I remembered to check my account today, and what do you know, absolutely no sign of a refund.....

So after 6 months from placing my order, I have no product and no refund.

Let this to be a warning to anyone looking to gamble on Total Wargamer, thier prices are very attractive, but their waiting time is not, and you may find yourself never getting ANYTHING for your money.

I have spoken to a number of other people and this is NOT uncommon at all, a quick search on Google will find a number of other people with similar problems with them.

I'm just glad my last order was only about £30 rather than the first two which were around the £200 mark....

Ok Rant over, back to normal.... which at the moment is a lot of nothing, I can only appologise for the lack of updates but getting ready for a baby takes priority over modelling and painting little men, women and other assorted creatures lol.
