MODheim: Terrortoise Update (PIP)

Got some painting done this weekend (one both the house and a terrortoise), so here is one almost finished guy for you, I still need to finish the eyes, and i've noticed a bright orange patch in the middle of his head that needs fixing!!

I'm quite enjoying painting the dots on these guys (though i'm hating the quality of the orange paints I presently posses), the other two are getting there, I will probably have photos of them before the end of the week.

Details about the conversions are all in this blog, just use the "labels" section under terrortoise.

I have also push molded the shell and head for another 3 terrortoise so I can finish the warband off soon. Still need to come up with ranged weapon ideas (not so enamoured with the idea of them just having slings).

Sci-Fi terrortoise anyone + new fishmen miniatures on the horizon.

Well I was going to get around to doing a sci-fi terrortoise conversion and in the back of my mind I was thinking about scratch sculpting and casting them but it looks like Mantic games may have done the groundwork for me.

Assuming they make another $13,000 in the next 6 hours at the time of writing on their "dreadball" kickstarter this lovely concept will be put into play:

I have ti admit i'm slightly annoyed that the idea I had is now no longer original but this is cool enough to get over that. I have already invested in the Dreadball kickstarter and this is definitely going to be one of my BOGOF teams.

While i'm posting concepts from companies I also found out about this one the other day:

His name is Rask, and he is going to be the Blindwater caster appearing in the next Privateer press Hordes release (2013), seen here pictured with undead Bog Trogs.... These models WILL BE MINE!!! they will be added to my fishmen warband, only problem is, at PPs prices they will probably set me back about £40, I wish PP would go plastic :( (for cost and ease of conversion.

Anyway, I have actually finished a Terrortoise paint job so will have a photos up today or tomorrow.

Have a good rest of Sunday

Necromunda: Sci-Fi lizardman (archive conversion)

A few years back I was working on a sci-fi project called "Fringe Wars", the intention being to create a modified version of Necromunda where you could use other races than just humans (and the few Genestealer or Ork lists out there). The below conversion was a race I had called the "Ichar", I was going to mix lizardmen with another race, much like snakes but that were implanted into a mechanical suit (converted from Necron parts).

Much like a lot of my projects  the Fringe Wars project came to an end when the players at the club went off the idea of Necromunda. I'm appear to be driven by the desire to play games with races un-seen in the usual canons, but i'm stiffled by a lack of players with any desire to do the same :P. I wish I lived in a town, city where there were people with a passion to create random crap like me basically :( lol.

Anyway, incase you are curious the weapon was made out of sprue bits and a glass bead, the rest is just a lizardman skink and a bit of plastic shaving for his shoulder armour.

MODheim: Southlanders Update

I've now finished all the Southlanders (I'm planning on basing everything at once when all the painting is finished). So I thought I would take some better shots than the ones seen so far :).
The whole warband "finished".

I actually quite enjoyed painting these, I don't normally paint anything in red but I was inspired (game of thrones) to try out a red and gold scheme. Turned out quite nicely I think :). If I ever get good at freehand (or applying transfers) I might finish the shields properly one day lol.
Captain Flasheart & Magi Sidious
I love the way the captain came out, anyone following this blog would know that originally he was just going to be another swordsman or champion, but I ran out of ideas / models for a captain conversion and decided to add the sash and sheath to make this fella more grand.

Modheim Building 2 WIP

Another shot of a WIP building this time it will be 2 story.

The stripped foamcore has got a slight curve to it after taking off the paper from one side, I think next time I will make the walls double thick, certainly if the walls are going to be any longer!!

I have added floor skirting and a chimney since these photos were taken, but it's now getting darker in the evenings here so I doubt I can get any new photos until the weekend.

Captain Flashheart again poses for the camera while one of his trusty crossbow men takes aim out of one of the windows.

MODheim: Bloodcap Gnomes update DEATHCAP

Madness or inspired... that's what I was thinking as I cut off the top of this £8 figure.....

Truth be told this guy has been in my lead pile for a good few years now and I still hadn't done anything with him so.... what the hell!.

The deathcap, leader of my gnome warband, any min now he's going to realise some bugger has stolen the head of his weapon right out from under his nose.....
Conversion uses the Avatars of War Chaos Dwarf Hero type metal figure, and OOP GW Night goblin head / hood and some GS.

I was going for an executioner type hood look, which is kind of what I've got.... he needs a bit more putty on the left hand side where I managed to cut a little too much off when shaving a bit of excess dried putty off :(.

I wanted to do an armoured gnome for the warband's leader in MODheim, plus using them as black dwarves in border town burning means there is a chance I might get some chaos armour, in which case the model can get used there too. It means i'm down one chaos dwarf hero, but then he's really too tall vs. all of the chaos dwarves i've converted so far anyway!

Mordheim Vampire Hunters: Campaign Master forces

A Vampire!, I have finally started to paint a vampire!!!! lol.

This is a GW Vampire figure, I think something was taken off the top of his helmet, but he was 2nd hand so i'm not totally sure about that.....I need to do a fair amount of work to the face and cloak as yet but he's coming along quite nicely I think :).
Is he the "big bad" or just a lesser vampire?, i'm not sure yet, depends if I can pick up a cooler model cheaply. I'm quite happy for him to be the big bad though, he's certainly a beefy looking vampire compared to the others I have.

I also painted a 2nd grave guard. Just like the last one, this is a Privateer press mercenary thrall, but he's got a GW head and I twisted around the sword to allow him to face forward without it getting in the way.

Not quite attack of the clones but I have 2 more PP Thralls to use as grave guard too so i'm going to have to get a bit more creative I think lol.

Modheim Building WIP

Well I haven't been doing any converting recently, but I have started to build my first building.

Captain Flasheart poses in the door frame tying to look moody.... or maybe he's just looking impatient for his shield which I still haven't painted....

Using Foamcore, wood from a hobby shop and some craft sticks I got from a local "cheap" shop (which isn't that cheap (and has put up the price of thier packs of sticks already by 50%)....), coffee stirrers, PVA glue and some Lego windows.

As a base I originally screwed the wood to a sheet of foamed PVA, but the building was too tall so I took off the base and put some foamcore inside the building instead which just about does it, height wise. I still need to do something to the floor, make another window, put coffee stirrers on the last side (recently glued in the picture, hence the rubber band), THEN I can think about the roof..... O.O.

I need about 8 of these I think for the Vampire hunter campaign....  might take me a while! or more likely i'll break down and by 1-3 of these excellent looking kits: http://www.drwillettsworkshop.co.uk/

However i'm vastly going over the amount of cash I wanted to pay out for this project already and I still need to get a whole load of walls made or purchased for the city :(.

Necromunda: Female Ganger 2 (archive conversion)

Well I MIGHT have something to show after the weekend is out, but in the mean time here is another archive Necromunda conversion dug out of the archives.

Again this conversion used an OOP Eldar ranger body and woodelf head, but she was finished off with a Warzone helmet and a shotgun from the OOP necromunda weapon sprue. The knife was from the OOP plastic Orlock figure.

Ugh look at the paintwork on that shotgun... shocking... :( lol.

Necromunda: Female Ganger 1 (archive conversion)

Ugh, it's been a draining week, sorry for the lack of updates, and to top it off... I still don't have any, instead i've dug though my archive and brought you this little conversion from a few years ago.

The conversion was based on one of the OOP Eldar rangers. It also uses wood elf parts, a beastman weapon and an OOP necromunda plastic Orlock gun.

This was one of a few I did for a warband that I never finished painting (partly because I was not happy with the paint jobs). She'd probably look pretty good in a 28mm ][ Warband that I see so many of over on the Ammobunker specialist games forum.

Anyway, hopefully i'll have something new to show after this weekend, otherwise i'll have to plunge into my archives again.
