Faun: New Warband WIP & inspiration.

Sorry for the long gap between posts this time, though I imagine everyone has a busy December to deal with! lol.

OK so I still haven't finished any of the warbands since the Southlanders, but that hasn't stopped me starting another one. This one is again based on someone else's idea I saw a few years ago and saved until I had all the parts needed (and the time) found here

I think the inspiration for that project is very obvious just from the photos :P, at this point I have no intention of including random animals and centaurs in this Warband.

These guys are converted out of OOP Ungor legs (torsos removed) with dark elf (warrior?) torsos and marauder heads.
I'll use glade rider / guardian arms once I work out how to "arm" them (bows, spears, shields or swords or a combination of).
My hand was hurting a lot after converting one head (cramp from holding something so damned tiny) so I decided to push-mold the head, that way I should only have to convert 3 or 4 actual heads for the whole warband. It means a fair amount of repair work after casting, but no less than converting each marauder head!

These guys might be Incorporated into the wild elf warband, but it's probably more likely that i'll do a complete "beastman" warband.
I've seen some nice lion beastmen conversions that might be a good fit / thematic for the warband's heavy hitters for instance, though I would armour them up more than the conversions i've seen (e.g. plate armour).

Anyway i'll have something else up for you on boxing day hopefully :).

Have a good one!

MODheim: Terrortoise Update (WIP)

Here we have some images of the model I'm touting as the unit leader for the terrortoise.
The conversion uses all the same basic parts as the rest of the terrortoise I have converted in previous posts.
This time however I decided to "buff him up" a bit with a slightly larger top shell, use different legs to the easy ones and to make the arms a little more dynamic. The head is also slightly more upright that most of them.

The pointing hand was converted out of the swearing hand you get in the Berserker boxed set which required some fiddly work to get the finger to look OK.

He will eventually have a 2 handed mace in his right hand and some bits and pieces to make the model more interesting applied to him... when I find some bits that will suit.

Cheers for reading.

MODheim: Fishmen update; 2nd shrimp / lobster beast (PiP)

Almost done with the 2nd lobster guy, just got to finish his feet, seal the paintwork and then finish the base one day.

He's got a slight variation to the other one, maily just less navy blue used in the paint scheme and I didn't wash the tail and bits on the top shell with the marine blue before I inked them.

Cheers for looking.

Warmachine: Magnus the dwarf (Archive conversion)

Here's a couple of conversions I haven't got around to painting poroperly, when I played a lot of warmachine I thought it would be fun to play as magnus, but I really do love the Privateer press dwarves too much to invest in stuff I don't really like the looks of. Therefore I decided, magnus is speed 5, which is as fast as the faster dwarves.... why not make Magnus into a dwarf.... (or a dwarf into Magnus)
Magnus was converted out of all privateer press parts, a Hammerfall high shield body, the epic magnus model's arms and the non-epic magnus's backpack. For the head I spent ages looking for a decent dwarfy head in the privateer press AND Warhammer range, in the end I went with an elf head from the nyss hunters, bulked up the nose and added a larger chin and sideburns.

Magnus has the ability to use unique jacks exclusive to him, the "renegade" warjacks, therefore I needed to work out how to make them, the above was what I came up with, a grundback runner chassis with a chainsaw from the GW Imperial guard sentinel kit (catachan), I got the gear bits from a GW Dwarf cannon kit. I was going to add a one shot missile to the back of the model... somehow to represent the renegades one shot gun and beef the little gut up a bit with some extra plating to represent the buckler the model has.

I might actually have a finished Terrortoise or two to show by the weekend, you never know lol.
