Hordes: Blindwater catastrophe

Well as promised here is what befell my minions through the postal service :(.

On top of the pile of bits pictures below were 2 empty trays of egg crate foam (that the miniatures had been packed into) and a bit of bubble wrap... in Royal Mails defence, there was a fair amount of air in the top of the parcel, NOT in their defence... the parcel was sent by special delivery, which is supposed to mean handed to a driver, placed in the van and then hand delivered, not kicked around like a football....

I was pleasantly surprised at least to find nothing missing (bearing in mind a bunch of stuff fell out of a corner as I unpacked it). Some of the resin bases are also a little chipped (not just talking about the paint).

Any painted models were totally ruined (with the backs of the gator heavies acting like cheese graters to paint jobs). Thankfully I didn't buy the models for the paint jobs so all of the above wasn't such a huge slap in the face, though I was looking forward to being able to put models straight on the table, painting the bare metal first and then returning to the painted models to re-paint when I got around to it.... oh well....

Still the seller threw in a second Wrastler as a freebie so I can't complain (just moan a little lol).

Hordes: Blindwater pact (Minions) Bull Snappers

I'm not dead! I didn't really take a lot of photos at Salute and I haven't taken them off the other camera yet, I mostly just took a couple of photos of some ideas to try and copy or impressive bits of terrain. I didn't buy anything either.... I guess I really don't need a lot at the moment...(mostly terrain but I plan on building it myself).

I did however put a bid on an auction on eBay that ended on the day of Salute, I very much expected to get outbid but I guess a lot of the people that might have bid on a miniatures lot were too busy shopping lol. I managed to pick up a large number of minions figures for a very reasonable sum of monies... there was a disasster when it arrived which I will show in another post, for now I have to get to work!

The pictures shows a couple of light beasts for Hordes, much like the last 2 figures these came pre-painted, but this time I totally re-painted them from scratch. I should have done some greenstuff work on the guy with the green spine (I did on the brown one) where the head met the body, the join lines didn't look as bad as that before inking....

Salute 2013: Here I come

Just prepping my bag and then awaiting my lift for Salute.

I have no idea what i'm going to buy at this point, having already spent a lot of cash on minis recently i've not got a great deal to take with me but i might buy one or two figs and just spend the day looking at beautifully painted figures and displays.

I hope to put up some shots of the event / minis later on.

Have a good one :).

Mordheim Vampire Hunters: Campaign Master forces

The above conversion is one of the reward models that the Vampire baron gets access to if he should manage to obtain full influence in a region around Natchdorf, "Ash the Zombie lord".

The conversion is mounted on the Privateer Press, Warmachine, Mercenaries, Epic Alexia horse (a dab of superglue means I can just pull him off should I ever decide to use Alexia).
The legs are from a Mantic games Ghoul, the torso from one of their zombies (including his left arm).
The right arm and head are from the GW Corpse cart kit and the armour is from the Skeleton warriors kit (I believe). He still needs GS work to fill a few gaps and to put some straps on his back, then I will apply a cloak to him and some leg armour too I expect.

Hordes: Blindwater pact (Minions) Thrullg

Just like barnabus this fella came pre-painted (dry brushed green with the pink tentacles), I didn't like the shade of green though so I inked him all over with a mix of turquoise and green inks with a bit of red added (I don't have a dark green ink). I applied the ink to get a stripey effect on the tail and I have put blotches on his head for patterning (but you can't see it very well in the photos). The spine had more turquoise than green ink and was painted in bone before inking (with the very peak I used my finger to lessen the ink so the bone shows through a bit).

Overall i'm pretty happy with him.

Hordes: Blindwater pact (Minions) Bloody Barnabas

Here is my first painted Warlock for the Privateer press game Hordes, Bloody Barnabas.
The figure was second hand and came pre-painted in a vibrant green with the coat and axe in the same colour as pictured, I re-painted all the flesh in a more alligator colour and re-painted all the bones, then I painted the stitching, touched up a few missed spots of paint and inked him all over with Army painter strong tone. Personally I think he turned out pretty good :).

So far the only other thing I have painted for the faction are the bog trogs (fishmen) posted a couple of weeks ago (and the paint work couldn't really BE more different lol). But the gatormen paint up really easily for me (was easier than the fishmen) so I believe I will finish a couple more models pretty quickly (though I only presently have one more caster and 2 Bull snappers for the gators).

More angles below :).

Cheers for reading.

Mordheim: Sisters of Sigmar Update

So the photos a bit rubbish (sun was a bit bright but i'm not complaining) these are the last 3 sisters for the warband, 2 superiors and the Auger, not my best paint work, I will go over them with some extra work before the varnish goes on but at least I can say I have finally finished a warband (I must paint that last dwarf slayer on my desk lol!!)

Cheers for looking

Mordheim Vampire Hunters: Campaign Master forces

Update on the undead, I have painted a fair few bonies recently, I have pictured a random 5 models above, I believe I have 9 left to assemble and paint (so i've painted 19 now).

Two of them are Privateer press Risen , the others are conversions using Mantic games and Games workshop parts (Mantic legs heads and shield arms, GW Torsos and Spear / sword arms).

Painted from a bone coloured undercoat and using  quick shade to shade everything after painting.

The guy below is a Privateer press bone swarm and so far the undercoat and quick shade is ALL I have done to it lol.

Mordheim: Witch Hunters WIP

So i've been pondering on witch hunters for a while now, I've never much liked the warband in style or theme to be fair, but they certainly are iconic of the Mordheim game and with the zealots it would allow me to do some conversions that could also double as civilians for other games. Plus I had a bunch of models that would suit them quite well lol.

Pictured above from left to right is a Zealot (blacksmith), the witch finder captain and one of his lackeys.

The conversions are made from
Blacksmith: GW Chaos cultist body from 40k starter set with a hand / weapon halft from a chaos marauder. The hammerhead is half of a sand timer from the Flagellant set while the "dagger" is from the Chaos dwarf hell cannon crew (of which I have a spare set). The head is from the miniature on the far right.

The Two other miniatures are Privateer press "Press gangers", The captain had a little rat in a pocket removed and his black jack and beanie, the other guy had a chairleg for a weapon which I replaced from the top of a flail (from the skaven night runner kit I think) and his head has been replaced with a (poorly painted) chaos marauder's. The captains hat is made from a hole punched bit of plastic and green / grey stuff, the sword is from the empire militia set.

I should note that all these guys are really on the large side, i'm simply putting this down to them being from a farming community, perhaps from middenland... lol

This is all the progress I have made on the warband so far and likely to be all the progress for a while while I continue to paint undead :).
