MODheim: Fishmen update; shrimp / lobster beast (WIP)

So here we have what used to be the "Ultra" version of the Crustaceor figure (in monsterapocalypse a monster box comes with 2 identical version of it, the standard and the Ultra monster) from Privateer Press, with this one I put him under how water and twisted his head a LOT so that he was looking to one side.... unfortunately he bent right back over the course of the three days after that...oh well.

I did however break his tail off and cut off both his claws to swap over, I repositioned one arm and the tail and then will glue the claws back on once he / she is painted.

The creature was then painted in a faulty can of army painter to give the shell more texture and then with Halfords (a UK car & bike hardware store type thing) grey primer (which is bloody excellent, thank you for that tip Agent of Ping). The model is now residing on the painting desk and I've knocked up a cork base for it.

Remind me. Disemboweling in your species, fatal or non-fatal?
Hopefully I can finish painting him / her this weekend :).

Cheers for reading.

Warhammer Fantasy: Dwarf Hammerers (Archive Conversions)

So I got a new PC game this week.... so i've done absolutely nothing towards anything, therefore I had to delve into some old photos to find these old dwarf hammerers I converted out of 6th edition Warhammer plastics and bits from other places (like 7th edition plastic dwarf warriors (hammer heads, beards) and Avatars of war beards, space wolf braids. Lots of greenstuff used to bulk out the body / give the plate armour look and also to make some of them female :),.

Some of these photos are WIP but I don't have any better ones and my dwarves are just one of the many projects in an un-finished state.
I call her Olga :).

The guy on the left shows you how the torso is glued on.... sort of.
The guys above are the finished versions of the dudes in the photo above this one (far right) with a metal bead and tiny bit of a spear I think to give him a flask of ale and a pipe from the 7th edition plastics (though I think the way the hand is holding it is all wrong personally)

I was a bit more creative with the last few guys helmets at the back, I should have been doing this from the begining as it looks a lot better than just plan helmet backs IMO.

Another random bunch of fellas, I think the guy on the far right didn;t get enough of his head removed, he looks more ape like than the others... OOK.

Just another two guys.
Aren't actually any pictures of the guys using Avatars of War heads

The female dwarf on this thread is the leader for the unit (or a thane if i'm not using hammerers).

MODheim: Fishmen update; shrimp / lobster beast

He's my latest "finished" work, this one is not a conversion just a re-paint (and re-base) of a pre-painted plastic model from Privateer Press's Monsterpocalypse; "Crustaceor" monster from the Tritons faction.

I decided to paint him blue to go with my Fishmen scheme, though if I ever do write a list for these things though this thing and the Mato will be options for the fishmen, they should be a list in themselves as well (IMO), so I made it a rather different blue scheme so that if they ever get fielded against each other they'll look like different factions.

I have another one of these that i'm looking to convert, but superglue doesn't stick to them too well, i'm going to try pinning.... but the plastic also doesn't drill well.... we'll see how it goes.

Cheers for looking :).

What's on my painting desk at the moment...

I'll have something finished to show you tomorrow which isn't any of the items below, I just though as i haven't updated in a while i'd show you what some of my conversion look like after they have been spray painted.... yay! .... yeah I know i'll try and get some real content up this week....

Have a good one.

Wolfbeast - Archive conversion

Did this guy an AGE ago, he's been painted 3 times, unfortunately the first paint job was the best one... I had him in a dark red khorne scheme which looked pretty good, then I went and painted him blue (including his fur). a Tzeentch scheme, then some time ago I slapped on a coat of lighter red and re-painted the fur... basically he's seen better days lol.

Must have done him about 8 years ago now, if not longer, originally just for fun, then he got used in "Path for glory" or whatever that little White dwarf mini game was called.

He's make a good beastman or chaos possesed beastman in Mordheim.

Conversion parts. all GW:
Ork body (one of the 1 piece archers from the starter set a couple of versions ago). one orc arm.
OOP chaos warrior arm (holding the sword).
Empire Militia great weapon.
OOP rhino hatch (shield), OOP Dark eldar helmet hair / plume.
Goblin wolf rider's woold head (champion).
Cicles cut of a bit of round sprue and some spears.
Shoulder armour from a 40k ork (the spikey bit )
Green stuff fur

I have the parts for a lot more of these as one day I was probably going to make an entire beastman warband, I may well get around to that sometime soon, though I'm going to try and come up with a better idea for the armour, something like this brilliant work here (on the left):

You can see more images of this guy's work here.

Mordheim Vampire Hunters NPCs: Gerhardt Lowenherz, Militia Sgt

Here is the 2nd to last NPC I need to complete for the Vampire hunters campaign, (the last one being the toiwn Burgermeister) here is a snipiet from the wargame weaver's campaign rules found here.

The commander of the militia is a brave and loyal man, but his few militia members have all been slain. Perhaps the heroes can help him train some new recruits! Gerhardt is armed with a spear, shield, light armor, and helmet.
The conversion uses the following parts:
GW mperial guard tank crew legs
GW Empire Militia torso (with coat) & Head, Empire greatswords torso front (with laurel).
GW Empire Soldiers OOP set leg armour (push molded).
GW Empire State troops spear arm (& eventually tip).
I think the dagger is from the high elf spearmen....
He will obviously need more sculpting work so far i've only worked over the torso with pro-create to blend the militia and greatsword torso.

Is it a Gnome or something else? (Undecided WIP )

After the weak update of the finished vampire yesterday, to boost the content here is an item that I can't work out how to finish.... lol.
He is based on a mantic dwarf, with a body of greenstuff. I don't like the mantic dwarves in general, too comical looking to me but the legs are ok....

I did this quite a while ago and he's been sitting waiting for a head / arms since then, I have no idea what to do with him... he's roughly gnome height but too armoured / Tidy looking for a gnome in the style of the guys i've already done and he's too short to be a dwarf compared to the dwarf warband.... any suggestions welcome.

Mordheim Vampire Hunters: Campaign Master forces

Kind of a pathetic update i'm afraid, here's the guy I posted a couple of weeks back, except now he has a hand and a pouch....

MODheim: Northlanders (PiP)

Appologies for the pretty rubbish photo.... it doesn't do the paint work any justice... I mean I painted it so it's not great, but it's better than the photo suggests lol.

Still a work in progress but i've almost finished a couple of heroes for the Northlander faction.
These guys are designed to appear more tough and rugged than the southlanders, though they still can use swords (see previous northlander entry).

The conversions are made up of:
1 x Privateer press steelhead halberdier body (guy on left) 1x torso (guy on right)
3x Privateer press Steelhead halberdier arms, one arm from steelhead heavy cav.
1x GW Empire militia legs with OOP empire soldier kit armour plating (guy on right)
Guy on the right's head is from the GW empire greatswords kit.
The guy on the right's backpack is from a Warzone plastic figure.
The guy on the left's head is from the GW Bretonnia men at arms kit (helmet was filed into a different shape though).
The club is from a GW Beastman Ungor if I recall correctly.

Halloween Pumpkin Carving

So something a bit different today, basically I just wanted to show off my fiance's brilliant pumpkin carving :).

She said the pumpkin this year wasn't as good as last year (it started to fall apart in places), I still think she made a good job of it.

Anyone have any suggestions for how to get decent photos of lit pumpkins in the dark....?

As this blog is less than a year old I didn't post last year's so for your viewing pleasure here are the 2 she did last year (she didn't have time to do 2 this year).

Mordheim Vampire Hunters NPCs: Gustav, scout

Another conversion for the Vampire hunters campaign, gustav the scout, here is a snipiet from the wargame weaver's campaign rules found here.

Into the encampments surrounding Mordheim comes a hardened Kislevite scout. His name is Gustav, and he has spent the past five years in Ostermark, Stirland, Mordheim and even Sylvania acting on behalf of his native land. He comes looking for a few warbands to fulfill a desperate mission.

A small town almost two hundred miles to the east of Mordheim, called Nachtdorf, has been a safe harbor for Gustav over the past years. This town is threatened by a powerful foe, and there is no law remaining in Ostermark that can aid them. A powerful vampire has crept into southern Ostermark from Sylvania.

Many of its citizens have fled north, but several score remain, and it is to aid these intrepid souls that Gustav searches for heroes.

Gustav is familiar with Strangulf’s weaknesses from his time spying in Sylvania. He knows that Strangulf is the type of vampire that must sleep in a coffin containing his native soil, and he shares a native land with Carstein – far to the east. Gustav knows that Strangulf brought five coffins with him to Ostermark, along with coffins for his three mistresses.

Gustav is a survivor. He carries a handgun, a bow, axe, and dagger. He also has a telescope (+d6” range, hiddenx3) and a riding horse. He has the skills Ride Horse and Horse Archer. He has a permanent Rosewood Stake.
The conversion is based on a Privateer press Khador figure with parts from the empire archers / huntsmen kit.
