WH40k: Touren Avatar

Just visited the Advanced Tau Tactica forum for the first time in yonks, and picked up a post where the Touren Avatar I asked to be done some years back (before I made my own) was actually drawn!! (here if you are interested (the first page has a whole heap of Tau and Aux avatars to use (note some commissioned ones as well so don't use without permission for those)).

Brilliant stuff :), so much more professional looking than my rubbish attempt!!, if I were to find fault it would be that the symbol on his chest appears to be at kind of an odd perspective, but there are a lot more things wrong with my attempt and I used a photograph of an actual mini!! lol.

Thank you

MODheim: Gnobgoblins (PIP)

No WIP shots of these guys as the LOTR orcs used for the figures were 2nd hand and part painted already.

Parts are just LOTR orc bodies, Gnoblar heads and some greenstuff for these guys really, a bit of carving and I will add some more arrow ends (fletching) to the archers quivers.

All the credit for this idea goes to Animerik's blog on Warseer; here.

MODheim: Bloodcap Gnomes update (PIP)

So you might remember this conversion from a while ago, it's my Bloodcap Gnome mage MR CUDDLES!!!!!

I'm still looking for a suitable wizened wooden staff to plant in the ground behind him, but he's at least part painted now.

Came out alright in the end.
He had a couple of new additions to the figure since the WIP shot of the conversion, daggers from the kroot kit, scroll and pouch from the flagellants kit and the blue bottles on the pocket on his left are actually the night goblin lower jaw I cut off the head... lol.

Auw goh on y'know ya want ta! *HUG*

MODheim: Terrortoise Update (WIP)

A Quick update on the Terrortoise warband, I needed something other than undead to work on and these guys were closest on the workbench LOL. I've made their necks a little longer than the original prototype as I think it gives them a slightly more aggressive look.

The guy on the far left will have a weapon across his shoulder / shell and the one in the middle with have a shield and club of some description. I'm probably going to stick with clubs for the entire warband, and slings for missile weapons as I can't think of anything else they could use easily.

Same parts used in the conversions as the prototype.
(Avatars of war dwarf berserker bodies, legs arms (and eventually hands)).
The shells and heads on these three were push molded from the 2nd prototype (which i'm yet to finish as i'm not sure how long the mold will last).

Angry Terrortoises, Leo, Raph and Michel...... :P

Mordheim Vampire Hunters: Campaign Master forces (Necromancers)

Sorry for the long delay in update this week, I think i've shot myself in the foot with the vampire hunter campaign.
The idea behind the MODheim project was to let my imagination run riot with various different factions / conversion and paint schemes.
The Vampire hunter campaign requires large amounts of undead things, which means no a great deal of variation amongst models or paint schemes. I think this has had a detrimental effect on my imagination and it's currently having a creative block. I'm completely stuck on the last 3 NPCs for the townsfolk.... :(

In the mean time though I have completed 2 of the necromancers and one prototype ghoul paint scheme (eyes and teeth need finishing) which i'm relatively happy with...

I will have to start doing some terrain soon....

Lighting wasn't so good for these photos unfortunately and I need to find something to finish off their staffs.

Mordheim Vampire Hunters: Campaign Master forces (Dregs)

Just a couple of dregs to wonder around with one of Baron Von Strangulf's Mistresses.

The one on the right was originally painted by my fiancee about 8 years ago but his arm had gone missing, so I painted a replacement arm to the best of my abilities to match the rest of the figure.... it's not a great match but I think she used GW's old brown ink which you can't get anymore.

The guy on the left my fiancee had painted the face of only, so I've painted all the rest of him and did a little of the face to blend into the rest of the mini.

No conversions here, though i'm not sure the guy on the left's arm is original, I've no idea where it is from if not....

Yes Masssterrr?

Mordheim Vampire Hunters NPCs: Father Jonas Sigmar Priest

Father Jonas will defend the Temple of Sigmar in Nachtdorf to his last breath.

Conversion uses:
Bretonnian Command body (made taller but cutting in half and greenstuffing more robe) #
Bretonnian Command head head
Empire Flagellant arms & hand (from the guy in stocks), Book (bones converted into stakes) & Hammer (on belt)
Mantic games dwarf hammer (with the bottom of the haft lopped off).
Greenstuff

I went a bit overboard with the inks (that's what comes of painting in poor light) so the paint job will require some correction.

I;m not sure which I would like to be beaten over the head with less, the hammer or the bell....

Mordheim Vampire Hunters: Campaign Master forces

Small update today, just a few necromancers converted for the Vampire hunters campaign. The middle guy will represent a named character "bonecaller" from the campaign, where as the others will be lesser, un-named characters as required by the scenario.

Guy on the left is from a corpse cart, other two are empire mages with Flagellant heads & one flagellant skull on chain, the sword hand is from the bretonnian command sprue.

Three necromancers out to raise hell in town....
Also undercoated the giant spiders ready for paint :).

Mordheim Vampire Hunters NPCs: PIP

Paint in progress of the Ostermark troops who are holding up in Nachtdorf after routing from a battle in the area (presumably against the undead).

I went with a slightly different scheme to traditional Ostermark as I don't actually posses any pinky / purple shades at all.

Still lots to do but i'm suffering from a lack of inspiration / motivation at the moment :(.

MODheim: Dwarves (PiP)

An update on the dwarves, I had to try and finish something in order to keep my motivation going, and the dwarves were the ones at the top of my list. I still have to convert one more troll slayer, but he is now the last model outstanding.

As far as the painting goes, I have to touch up the flesh some as the new dwarves look a little sun burnt at the moment.

Engineer (yes that is an axe blade on her crossbow)
Troll slayer (Mantic games Berserker, converted with Greenstuff, GS arms & Weapon head and AoW Berserker hair
Great weapon Henchwoman
2 weapon combo Henchwoman
Hammer & Shield Henchwomen
Group shot including the models from previous dwarf blog entry
